Yuki’s Get Well Fund
Matthew’s dog Yuki escaped from the backyard on Sunday, July 12. On Thursday morning at 4:00 AM she was hit by a truck a few miles away. Someone who was behind the truck and saw what happened, stopped, picked her up and took her to a nearby animal hospital. She suffered a spinal injury, shattered left front shoulder, internal bleeding, and bruised heart and lungs. As her condition deteriorated, she was taken to Advanced Critical Care & Internal Medicine in Tustin. Thanks to their excellent care, Yuki survived and is on the mend. The right front leg is fine. She is slowly recovering the usage of her back legs, but likely will lose her left front leg. Internally, the leg bone is completely detached from her broken shoulder. There is no feeling below the elbow. Her long term well being will be improved if it is amputated.
Though emergency animal care is somewhat less expensive than the equivalent for people, it is not budgeted and not insured. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated.
