Afternoon Moon Over Whiting Ranch

Mission Viejo Garage Fire

Mission Viejo Garage FireMission Viejo Garage FireA quiet gray Sunday afternoon was interrupted by the sound of a low flying helicopter circling above the neighborhood. A quick look around revealed a thick black column of smoke rising to the northeast. Maybe down at the Ralph’s shopping center, or a car parked on Mustang Run? I dropped the lawn edger, ran in the house to get my camera, then down the street with a growing stream of people and cars. The Scene
About two and half blocks away from our house, the garage at 21575 Cabrosa was fully engulfed with flame and smoke. There were already four engine companies on the scene. It wasn’t long before the smoke turned white and the flames disappeared. The Sheriff department personnel tried to keep everyone out of the street and on the sidewalk. I walked down the street directly across from the action. There was a man taking pictures from out in the street. He nearly got his head banged by a ladder as a fireman carried it from the truck while stepping over the hoses.

Great video of the fire! Was it really close to your home? Alot of smoke, for sure. Scary!

Thank you for the fire info. I actually was driving down to Ralphs and saw the plumes of white smoke and wondered where the fire was!

My name is Justin Henretta… We owned this property prior to the current residents.. I havent heard anything about any injuries, which is great. I do feel bad for the current tennants, but hopefully something good will come out of it (maybe add an additional story on top of the garage?)

We have 2 young kids (a 4 year old and an 11 month year old).. We are very greatful this did not occur while we were there, although I do know the current tennants also have a young child. Scary stuff, thanks for this article, very good stuff.
